What is a denture?
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and the tissue connected to those teeth. It is traditionally made of acrylic, plastic and sometimes porcelain and metal materials. The goal is to closely resemble natural gum tissue and teeth. Complete dentures replace all of the teeth, while partial dentures fill in the spaces left by missing teeth and prevent other teeth from shifting position.
Today’s dentures and partial dentures can be made without acrylic and metal. At Live Well Dental Center, we have our dentures made from a strong and durable material more similar to nylon. This powerful material doesn’t leak out chemical monomers like acrylic dentures.
Dr. Chang has made hundreds of dentures using tried and true techniques. Visit our Smile Gallery to see some examples.
